Yours stats that got you into WashU in St. Louis

Looking for stats from the admitted students:
Post your gpa; SAT/ACT scores, EC's, hooks; $ merit aid if any.

3.9something UW, 4.85 W, either valedictorian or salutorian (honestly, who cares), SAT 800CR 800W 760M, ACT 35, violin and debate (but not that great at either), student council, the usual community service, etc.

For more in-depth info on stats of accepted students, you should check the decisions thread; it was pretty thorough this year.

If you're looking for merit aid, you definitely won't be able to rely on good statistics alone. The WU community wants much more than yet another 2400. Be yourself. Be interesting and interested.

i didn't apply for any financial aid.
so...i got in ED1 on 700M, 760CR, 710W. Um 3.8 weighted, i dont know my unweighted actually. 3 year varsity basketball player, 4 year varsity volleyball player, 1 year varsity. 2 year captain basketball, all league volleyball. usual community service.

The GPA is a little low but I went to an elite private school in the Bay Area with a history of crazy college acceptances

but if you wanna go to wash u, show plenty of interest.

This is from the official decisions (real decision) thread:

Im not as smart as the other ppl on here, im am just good with numbers, and since i applied to Olin that helped, lots of extracurriculars, started my own profitable business, sports, did some business courses
so basically just show a very strong interest for the school and the field in which you are applying to, and being that WashU is not need blind it helped me because i didnt apply for any aid

yeah... well this should give hope to all you out there who think u wont get in
ACT: 32 (didnt take writing part, if i had my score would have dropped)
I took 8 AP classes, did not submit scores to WashU
Top 10% of class (dont remember but i though i was about 50/715)
Football/Basketball/Track for 4 years(conference champ shot put for 2 years)
was NOT in NHS or any academic clubs
and what couldnt have been that great of an essay cause my writing sucks

oh, and im a white male, middle class, I used to think that I got in because I am fairly smart and maintain my academics while competing year round in athletics(we were division 8A football), however recently I believe its because of this little fact I got off of Wikipedia: "In 2005, GBN had an average composite ACT score of 21.0, and graduated 95.9% of its senior class. It has not made Adequate Yearly Progress on the Prairie State Achievements Examination, a state test part of the No Child Left Behind Act."
So yeah, WashU probably though I'm from an inner city school or something, after all, who else fails the No Child Left Behind(besides us)

got in Early Decision

Wait... GBN as in Glenbrook North?

it will never end. ever since you guys had that hazing incident, we have been confused as them. no, Glenbard North in Carol Stream. my bad though, should have spelled it out. besides, you really think Glenbrook North has an avg. ACT of 21? Its got to be higher than that.

Haha, that's why I was so surprised. I don't personally go to GBN (I'm from Kansas), but I know a few kids from GBN and GBS from debate.

LOL

Half of my class (about 12) can't even spell ACT, much less go take it.
