Chances for WashU?

Hi all! I'm new to this whole thread thing but I'll try to give as much information as possible.

I'm a rising senior planning to apply to Washington University in St. Louis ED in the fall. I love the school and really hope I can get in. My SAT score was a 2340 (800 writing, 750 critical reading, 790 math) but I don't have such a great GPA- I have around a 4.0 (out of my school's 4.4 GPA system). Up to this point I've taken 5 AP's and I was awarded the AP Scholar with Distinction Award and I plan to take 3 more this upcoming year, making my AP total at the end of high school EIGHT. My grades sophomore year were mostly A's, but junior year took a toll on me as I had more A-'s (90-93) and B+'s (87-90) in my classes. I am involved in a couple extracurriculars: I am a two year, returning officer for my school's Peer Leadership Program, I am the President of the Student Offering Service, and I am a "Specials" page editor for my school Newspaper. I am also a member of 3 other clubs, I just dont hold a leadership role.

I also have had and will continue to have a summer job for all four years of high school (my guidance counselor told me that was good), and I was National Merit Commended for my score on the PSAT sophomore year.

One of the things I'm most worried about is the fact that I don't play a sport, or an instrument, or I havent' gone to volunteer in other countries, or anything fabulous like that. I feel like I'm just pretty normal and have nothing to offer. Am I psyching myself out or do I have a change to get in ED to my dream school, WashU?

Wash U is big on demonstrated interest and applying ED is the way to go. You have good ECs and SATs so I think your weaker gpa will be compensated for. Good luck with the essays.

You’ve got a chance and like dblazer said above, ED is the way to go if you know that’s where you want to go. It’s a great school.
