<p>How hard to get in YSO for freshman?</p>
<p>I know plenty of people who got in as freshmen. Most yale organizations don’t favor you bc of class year, but rather bc of talent. My impression of YSO is that the level is quite high. So if you’re a very good musician, you should have a perfectly good chance.</p>

<p>If you’re a wind player or a percussionist, there is also the Yale Concert Band, which is also very good, but obviously has a lot more slots for winds than the YSO does. (There is also the Jazz Ensemble, which may be toughest to get into because of its size.)</p>
