Zip Code?

Hi folks,

My D will be an exchange student from West Point this fall. She was given two different zip codes in her mailing address for the AF Academy. The one that West Point gave her was 80840. Then she was sent another that listed 80841 as the zip. Anyone here know which is correct?

Thanks!

(Go Air Force!!!–unless they are playing Army! )

either one will work. They're both the zip codes for the academy, don't ask me how though.

Cool, thanks. We are looking forward to her stay at AF. We are going to try to plan a trip out there some weekend to see her. The last few years she has been too far away to come home for xgiving--not this year! :)

Thanks again!

Most gorgeous school EVER.

I haven't lurked the WP forums in a looong time, good to see you shogun. I think that 80841 is exclusive to the PO boxes and 80840 is for all the offices and what not. But like Patriot said, they both work. Know what squad your D will be staying in?

Parent's weekend is a must (not literally but really important for your cadet)
August 31 through Sept 3rd is the date and depending on what year your cadet is depends on the amount of time they can spend with you off base. For 4th and 3rd years they can leave on Friday but have to return either Friday night or early Saturday to get ready for the Football game which is mandatory. After the game, they are yours for the rest of the long weekend! I'm not exactly sure about the details for the upper-class cadets. At parents weekend they open the school and allow parents see their cadets dorm, go to their classes, crash an airplane in the simulator (my 14 year old is really excited about this) Have meals with your cadets in the officer's club as well as other activities. I'm sure you could look on the AOG website for more info.
Congratulations to you and your D. What an exciting time in their lives.

We know her squadron but she'd probably rip my head off if I posted it here. :)

Right now she's on a plane to England to train at Sandhurst for a month. Miss her already.

Is parents weekend for the first year cadets and their parents only or is this a 4 class event?

4 class event

Shogun, to send letters or packages by US Postal service, send to
Her Name
POBox xxxx (should be 4-digit number)
USAF Academy, CO [yes, the Academy is it's own "city"]
80841-xxxx (same as box code)

Each cadet gets their own postal box, in Vandy, one of the 2 dorms.

The 80840 zip is used if you wish to send something by UPS, FedEx, etc. Can't find it right now, but there is a separate mailing address. Boxes arrive at Arnold Hall, and recipients pay a $2 handling fee.

Cadet Package Stop:

Name
2302 Cadet Dr. Suite 12
USAF Academy, CO 80840

So if you send a package to that package address how does the cadet know it is there to go pick it up? I think my real question is how much of a delay is there in the cadet being notified the package is there? If it arrives on Monday is the cadet given regular mail in their mail slot on Monday and if they already got their mail they get the info on Tuesday or is an e-mail or something sent? Good thing to understand how it works for planning birthday boxes or perishables (yes, I know - later later later!!!)

They send an e-mail when they receive it since it is meant for perishables.

Is it a must that the PO Box numbers come after the zip codes?

nope, they do not.
