So I'm interested in majoring in zoology, but UCSD doesn't offer that major. However, it does have Environmental Systems (Ecology, Behavior, & Evolution) and Biology with the same specialization (Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution).

Would you guys say these are the closest to zoology or animal sciences?

zoology is a more prevalent field in graduate education

undergrads should take as much bio, ecology, ethology, and es classes as possible

If you’re interested in primates there is Biological Anthropology as well. UCSD’s department is very primate-oriented and there internships available with the Zoo and Wild Animal Park.

yeah there are a lot of researchers here who run various internships/practica at the zoo

i did a 2 quarter internship with bonobos with christine johnson from the cogsci/anthro department

one does have to go through a pretty competitive application process for it since only up to 5 students can be there at any given quarter
