Columbia Likely Letters

Hey guys, has anyone received a non-athlete likely from Columbia?

Isn’t it too soon?

Been really curious about this as well–almost made a post myself before I saw yours. Has anyone gotten a likely letter yet? Or is it too early?

Just got one today oh my goodness I can’t even believe it!!

Came in an email. Not an athlete. Actually an asian male really heavy in academics.

Congrats swagdaddy.

Columbia starts issuing the first batch around this week and continues all the way until 2nd week of March.

Got one too! Can we join to Columbia 2018 Facebook group?

Wow. Certainly was not expecting a likely letter from Columbia out of all places. Also an Asian male with no athletics and heavy academics.

I also received one this morning literally an hour after my Penn likely!! I am also an Asian male, heavy in academics, no athletics  Just 2 months ago, I thought I wasn’t going to get in anywhere, and now I am in a position like this? Truly grateful!!

congrats to the LL recipients. Now sit back and wait to compare Fin Aid (if you applied) offers. Otherwise, go out with a bang in your final few mos. of college!

Got one too  So Happy!

Interesting. Is Columbia going heavy on Asians for likelies?

I just got one as well. What does it mean?

It means you have been admitted and you just need to wait for the official letter at the end of March.

It is also possible many of you will be named some kind of scholar when you get the admission package.

@Brianorex: You wrote: “I just got one as well. What does it mean?”

The message contained in the letter isn’t obscure. Read it and you’ll know.

Congrats. Are these for stem ?

I got one on valentines day, maybe so we ‘fall in love’ with Columbia, :))
Anyway, I applied for mathematics as a white male, so I guess they are giving them to prospective STEM students. Congrats to everyone who got one as well!

@T26E4 I read my letter. I’m not sure whether it means I’m definitely accepted or not. It says you can expect a letter of acceptance if you continue on your path, I’m wondering how certain it is. Does anyone know the acceptance rate for likely letter kids?

@Brianorex: If one of these things happen to you between now and March 27th, you won’t be admitted.

1) fraud is discovered in your application
2) you commit a felony
3) you get expelled or flunk out of school

Are any of those on the horizon for you? I hope not.

Otherwise, it’s 100% commitment from CU to you, the applicant. Got it?

Congratulations. In your hands is literally, the “golden ticket”. It’s no joke. People break down crying when they receive one. Perhaps one hundred out of 30K applicants get one.

@T26E4 wow! That’s great news. Thanks for the information. I know this isn’t the place but I noticed that you are a senior member. Is it possible for me to change my username?
