so my sign-up time is march 4 at 2pm. that means it's a little later second day, right? what are the chances of getting de neve?

i live in de neve dogwood now and my roommate and i are thinking ABCD for next year... does anyone have any suggestions for which building (from experience, what they've heard, etc...)? my floor this year was on the anti-social side (people did their own thing) and then there were the cliques that were social amongst each other.

hi jeyday i lived in fir for two years now and let me tell you it has been great! the rooms are so nice and everyone leaves their doors open still! we all hang out like 24/7, eating together and we have weekly video game nights. its so cool!

i wouldn’t worry about sign up but i would highly recommend fir because it generally has been more social than the other deneve plazas. i have a lot of friends in evergreen and they say the same stuff about their dorm too.

the abcd dorms normally are less social because they have a lot of third years with their own social networks.

i heard dogwood was bad this year. how did you survive?!? did you have a group? and what were the cliques like?

p.s. i heard reiber has huge rooms! just food for thought!

lol my sign-up time is at 3/5 3pm =[ I don’t think I’ll get a DeNeve doubles =

I heard that doubles are usually gone by the beginning of 2nd day or something…

AND I LIVE IN DOGWOOD TOO LOLOL.
My floor is relatively social… with interesting people and RA’s around… but not much open doors… It’s not as bad as you think salsafan.

well i live on the first floor of dogwood and it is pretty anti social haha. except the fact that it gets a lot of traffic because people use the side door to get into the building since it’s closest from the rest of the hill area.

salsafan, i actually heard quite the opposite of what you just said. i heard ABCD is usually the most social and E and F are more anti-social. i know this varies by year but usually E and F are still available even to the last day which means people choose other buildings over those two.

YES dogwood was pretty bad this year, at least my floor was. haha. i “survived” because i have formed my own group of friends from this floor and we’re pretty much together ALL the time. my roommate’s boyfriend (who she met because he also lives on this floor) sleeps over like 4 times a week. -_-

there are a couple cliques and then the rest of the more anti-social people that do their own thing. i know a couple first years that met second years on this floor and they party all the time. also, the second and third years have their own groups as well since they knew each other before they signed up.

daniel, what floor do you live on? how do you like it?

I live on the 3rd floor. There’s not alot of open doors, but people do socialize in the lounge. And we have a floor TV so that was pretty cool (but also caused people from other floor to invade our lounge for the TV).

I like my floor. People are interesting. We also have visitors from other floors too.
EXCEPT I can never get any work done in my lounge =

On the side note, I went to Fir quite alot this quarter and it’s pretty social on that floor
A&B on the other hand were quiet.

You will have a chance at EF. Evergreen doubles usually fills the slowest, there will still be some on the third day. There will also be partially filled doubles on ABCD.

Dogwood and Cedar are usually the more social buildings in previous years. Maybe some of the liveliness moved to Sproul.

we also have very interesting people on our floor haha. i’m sure you pass through the first floor all the time to get to your floor. if you ever see anyone sitting in the corner of the hallway (a little before the elevators) then i’m most likely there as well. my friends and i are the most social people on our floor-- we’re always sitting in the hallway doing homework and socializing, and we do meet a lot of interesting people that pass by this way.

that’s interesting to hear about fir.

does anyone have any other input on the de neve buildings and preference?? thanks

i got double in dykstra! i was hoping for Sproul, but it was full, but there were no more available doubles, and i really didn’t want to be in a triple, so we’ll see how it goes…

i am kind of looking forward to a hall though. i live in courtside, and though it’s really nice, the quietness of it gets kind of lonely. i kind of feel like i am missing out on the freshman college dorm experience.

we were hoping for a double in de neve, but by my sign-up time, ALL the doubles were full for all of de neve, including evergreen and fir. de neve filled up pretty quickly this year, compared to what i had heard about E and F having available rooms even to the last day. there are still plenty ABCDEF triples though, haha.

but yeah a double was more important to us than the building, so we ended up finding a double in rieber vista (barely!). it’s actually pretty nice because we requested both A and B (the adjacent room that you share a bathroom with) and we’re four girls with two adjacent doubles. :)

i guess it’s good since there were only a couple rooms left that had both A and B, and this was the last room that wasn’t facing rieber hall and was at a good spot. RV looks pretty nice, i hope our floor is social… at least a little bit… haha.

RV isn’t bad at all, its not as close as deneve but its closer to food and all that plus it really only depends on how social your floormates are since you are not guaranteed a social floor even if it is sproul (first hand experience)

my hall right now basically moved to the same hall on sproul…so i think it should be pretty social :]
yeah doubles were like impossible to get unless you had a really early priority time or early enrollment time…
stupid ucla… everything that has to do with enrolling in something is so cut throat.
