In the last page of the commonapp for all private schools, they have a list of colleges.

It tells you to check the colleges you plan to send the application to by the date which you have chosen.

I was wondering, does that mean your essay that you send in for an early action/ ED college is the same essay you turn in for your regular decision colleges? I'm talking about the main essay with 6 topics to choose from with 250 minimum words. Or can you alter the essays, or talk about a completely different subject to other schools?

Thanks

I have the same question. Also, can we also change bits like the 150 word EC section, and other things as well? CommonApp doesn't lock once you submit it to one school does it?

You can create a second, different application for different schools once you've submitted an application. There's more info on it under the Common App FAQ.

I would suggest waiting a couple of days before you replicate an application. I did it and it messed up my school forms a bit. (One of my teachers submitted my rec, and it's being used twice for all of my schools --- including those that only accept one rec. I can't change it.) I notified Common App (it's the weekend so they'll probably get back to me on Monday) but if it turns out to be something that I have to start over with, I would hate for you to have to re-ask your teacher to submit their recs or something.

Just in case anybody was waiting for an update on my previous post: Common App has fixed that glitch.
