1 year CC transfer to UC- advice or others like me too?

hi! so with my AP classes in high school, I ended up with 31 of the 60 credits I need to transfer to a UC, and I’m starting this fall as a sophomore doing 16 units, and probably 16 also in the spring.

the DREAM is to go to Cal as a political economy major/environmental policy minor, but for UCLA and San Diego I’d apply as econ with a poly sci minor, and I can tag with Davis, so that’s nbd.

fall classes: English 1C, Calc1, Intro to Macroecon, Art History, Religious Philosophy.

ECs: job at a burger place (around 20 hr/week), interning for state assemblyman, and joining clubs (maybe leading some?) in the fall. also hopefully entering some essay contests over summer

anyone in the same boat or that had experience and can give advice? how important are ECs if I’m applying with only one semester of grades? it would be much appreciated!

I can’t answer your question, but I one to make sure you are aware of one huge benefits of being a xfer with a lot of AP credit. If you want to graduate after 2 years at a UC you can, but if you want to stay for 3 years you can do that too! Your choice.

Also be sure to read the limitation on which requirements AP credit can be used to satisfy on that page

There’s a thread somewhere that is directly for 1 year transfers. You could probably ask your question there or look for it the thread

Hey! I was a one year transfer and I will be going to Cal in the fall! You are well on your way with all of your AP credits and your ECs sound good too. My only advice would be to get as many prereqs done in the fall because those are the last grades that they are guaranteed to look at. Best of luck!
