Here's yet another recent study that has Ann Arbor on top!

We got this award several years ago, too… awesome!

Yeah, Ann Arbor seems to be one of the most diserable places within Detroit metro. Haven’t personally visit the city, but I’m sure I’m likely to sometime this upcoming school year.

Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti aren’t considered to be part of the Detroit Metro Area FYI. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

For a change, you are right ringoffire. Ann Arbor (and Washtenaw county) are not considered to be suburban Detroit.

The only times I ever notice Coolbrezze’s username is when he posts something about Ann Arbor being part of Metro Detroit. Every time he does people tell him he’s wrong, and then he does it again whenever possible it seems.

Don’t mean to be a dick, but stop it.

Yes, Ann Arbor is not considered part of metropolitan Detroit.

Ann Arbor is part of the Detroit Combined (Detroit-Port Huron-Flint-Ann Arbor-Monroe) Statistical Area that makes up southeastern Michigan.

tenisghs, during my years in Michigan, I never heard anybody refer to Ann Arbor as a suburb of Detroit. Maybe it is, but as far as I am concerned, I always though that Ann Arbor was a separate entity with its own government and downtown area.

Of course, if you mean “greater Detroit metro” and you include all cities within a 50-60 mile radius of Detroit, then cities like, Toledo and Ann Arbor indeed become part of the Detroit metro. But if that’s the case, then Berkeley becomes part of the San Francisco metro, Pinceton becomes part of the NYC metro etc…

Ann Arbor is not a suburb of Detroit, but it might as well be considered part of Metro Detroit. Detroit radio stations, Detroit tv stations, Detriot newspapers. 20 minute ride from true Metro Detroit suburbs. Much more part of ‘Metro Detroit’ in my book than official places like areas in northern Oakland and Macomb Counties.

I would guess that the argument of AA not being part of Metro Detroit stems from not wanting to associate with Detroit more than anything.

It doesn’t matter. Being a top 10 place to live is a good thing. We’re far enough away from the violence of Detroit but close enough to be able to go see the DSO every now and then. Stop derailing the thread topic.
