I've been stuck between Clemson and Virginia Tech for a few months now. I thought that going on a trip would help me pick a clear choice, however I came back from the trip more confused than before. I can see myself going to both college, I love both and both seem to fit my academic needs. What should I do and should I just pick both schools out of a hat to pick where I will be going to school next year?

Try that as a gut check. Pull one school out of the hat. Sleep on it. Then see how you feel in the morning.

If that doesn’t work, then follow the money - go to the one that’s cheaper.

Nope, only pick one school out of the hat. ;)

Truly, on the surface, it’s a coin flip between those two schools. You might want to share your intended major(s) as someone here may be able to tell you about the pro/cons of that program.

Assuming that you have already reached out to friends and friends of friends that are going there to get their input, here is what I would do:

E-mail a professor at each school that teach a course that you are very interested in. Share with them something about your intended major or subject matter that really interests you. Explain your dilemma and ask them to comment on their program (i.e. from their perspective). You may be surprised at the differences between responses or may even learn something about that program you never knew existed such as opportunities or activities. This is better than than some old coin flip.

My son didn’t even want to do a second visit to the school he eventually selected. But he was curious about a class and e-mailed the professor about it. The AMAZING response he got from this prof got him to want to give it a second look.

thanks Chedva and ctyankee, great ideas, ill try them out!
