What do you guys think about the summer reading book for the incoming class of 2010? How many of you have already read it?

i never knew we had a summer reading book to read....

does this apply to architecture students? I rather look at pictures. i need visuals

it applies to everyone.

'Tis a great book about a great man, sport.

wow that is nso much better than our year's book.

didn't last year's people say they talked about it for like 5 min before the subject turned to other stuff?

i've read it already and it was quite good.

Wow, it's Gatsby? This just wants me to go to Cornell so much more . . . it's one of my favorite books for sure.

weve like already read it! ive personally read it about 2 times...in two different classes. o well

sparty wat did u guys read?

i never knew this where do u find this out? i already read it lol

Do we HAVE to read it?

Yes, you must read the book, and for those students who already read the it, it is worthy of a re-read. For more info about the summer reading project - http://www.news.cornell.edu/stories/Feb06/gatsby.fac.html

i don't need to re-read it we spent a whole semester last year on the book and had to do a big project on it. i remeber the book, i liked it a lot. I don't know if its the greatest book ever written. (yah know those rankings of best book ever written)

students will be asked to write a one-page response to one of the study questions accompanying the text

No one is grading this response though, right?

what! i thought it was things fall apart?

no they aren't but there is an essay contest but be prepared to sound smart when we have the discussion of the book lol

that's such a widely read book. by that mean, so many people have already read it in high school. i thought they'd pick something lesser known.

and things fall apart was last year.

I can't believe people are asking if they HAVE to read it and if the response will be graded. Surprise, this is one of the best institutions of higher education in the country. It's Cornell. No you don't HAVE to read it. Cornell will live on, continuing to hope that it stops drawing students who feel prompted to even ask such questions.

always sparknotes =)
