So I’ve looked up information about how to convert your 100 scale GPA to the 4.0 scale and have found a variety of answers. I know the college board has a page that explains it. I prefer that method. However, on my transcript for school, my GPA is a 96 and on a 4.0 scale it is a 3.84. I know that this was calculated by dividing 96 by 25. However, if you go by the college board’s method, I should have a 3.99 (Of my 23 core classes in high school, I’ve had 11 A+'s, 11 A’s, and 1 A-).
When colleges look at my transcript, will they calculate my GPA using the method from college board, or will they take the one written on my transcript?
I’m just concerned because I’ve seen stats for some of the schools I’m applying to and the average UW GPA for most of them is 4.0. But I’m pretty sure these people couldn’t have had a 100 for all of high school, so…
The college board method makes a lot more sense. Normally a 4.0 is given for a 93+ in each class (although the cutoff can vary by school). I believe the 3.84 will be considered as pretty much a 3.99.
If your school do not have a letter grade conversion chart, the adcom will use their own.
