How’d yall do?
Pretty bad news here: 1 reject and 5 waitlists. idk if I should keep any hope or not, and the 11th grade chances are notoriously low. That said, if I do go through this process again I will cast a wider net. At the beginning of my search, I was only interested in acronym schools. Now, I see the flaw of that decision; at my current school, there is no opportunity. If I don’t get into a boarding school, I truly don’t think I can get into a strong college. Everyone will tell you that boarding school doesn’t improve college chances, but when you come from a school with 300 students and one academic club, it will. Hopefully next years first time 10th grade applicants will understand. Needless to say, I will stay on the waitlists. Hell, with 5 I actually have a chance of getting in (3% maybe?). However, I think that I cannot be suppriesd, as someone with an average SSAT, average grades, “weak” ecs and no hook didn’t get in.
Congrats to everyone that got in, sorry for those that didn’t
Hopefully someday people at those schools will look up our names; lets make sure they feel some regret when they do so.
I got waitlisted at 7, rejected at 1 and accepted at 1 (which I love, and one of only schools I visited). Though some of the biggest schools waitlisted me, I am happy with it, and I think that it was meant to be.
My first decision, Deerfield, came out when I was celebrating a family birthday, and was a waitlist. After that, 5 more waitlists came. After each and every one, I felt my hope decrease. When Milton accepted me, I was dazed; I read over the page about fifty times before I stumbled out of my room to tell my parents.
It was a hard day for me; in a way, I realised that I’ve been in a bubble my whole life, in a mediocre school, thinking I was the best of the best when really, there are so many more talented students in the world.
Congratulations to everyone who was accepted, and to the others who poured their hearts out into applications, only to be waitlisted or rejected, you have my condolences. Rest assure that you all are amazing people, and good things are to come.
@altablue congratulations on your acceptance, I am sure you’ll be happy there! @TPAJ03 don’t worry about it; last year, I only applied to Andover and Exeter and got rejections from both of them. This year, I applied to Exeter, Andover, Choate, Groton, Deerfield, and Middlesex; I got into all of them except Groton and Exeter, where I was waitlisted. This proves it’s best to not lose hope!
@TPAJ03 I know exactly what you mean. I was waitlisted at 8 and rejected at 1. Also applying for 10th grade. I know the numbers aren’t exactly in our favor, but pull through and stay optimistic cuz unfortunately, that’s all we can do. Good luck to everyone with your acceptances, waitlisted, and rejections. Congrats @altablue Milton is a fantastic school
