Ok yes your GPA is rather low, but your AP exams are pretty good, which shows your proficiency in your classes. However, I think your SAT test is a bit low. I’d say 2100-2250 puts you at a good shot at John Hopkins (that is based only on SAT). You should have taken at least 2 subject tests too (I mean, it’s only one hour…).

You have some great ECs, but a little bit scattered with things that have nothing to do with your major. I think your essay, if written superbly, will show your passion though.

Overall, Johns Hopkins will be a reach for you. I’m not sure what someone said 2070 SAT got into Johns Hopkins is typical because many of my friends got rejected with much higher SAT scores.

I’d say low reach, since you’re applying early decision. Otherwise it would be a high reach. 528/1445 admitted ed vs 3519/20614 rd Granted, applicants typically have stronger applications ed, but I still think it helps to apply ed. Like most others said, your gpa/sat put you at a disadvantage. 25th-75th percentile for JHU is 2090-2290. The good thing is, the process isn’t just a numbers game. I think that with your courseload and those internships, you have a shot!

Sorry but to be blunt I think JHU is a pretty high reach (it is for me too, haha), just as it is for basically everyone. Your EC’s are strong (although for future reference you should try to elaborate clearly and impressively, to within reason, on your applications) but your GPA is low and your test scores are not standout by the standards of elite colleges. But hey, just wait and see, you never know.

I think your gpa and scores are a bit on the low side for JHU, but other than that everything in your application seems to be pretty set. Your extracurriculars in particular are quite impressive. I think overall, it might still be a reach for you, but definitely a possibility. Good luck!

I’m not going to comment on the essays/recommendations since your experience can potentially be completely different from what is interpreted by admissions officers. At first glance, your essay topic doesn’t look really unusual, though we haven’t read your essays.

The average admitted GPA is much higher than a 3.44 (though it would help if we knew your class rank), and I don’t see too much in your record that really makes you stand out. Most are activities that many other high school students across the country do, and internships, while nice credentials, are not slam dunks at all. JHU isn’t Harvard or Stanford, but it’s still extremely difficult to get in, even early decision. I would still put it in the reach category, but it would still be worth trying. Good luck!
