12th class graduate...

Can you apply even if you haven't graduated from high school yet? According to various facts and informaton on websites, I think it's possible, but I'm not sure.

You apply while you are in 12th grade through commonapp and the deadlines for applying for regular decision are usually 01 Jan but in some case could be 15 days before or after that date. The applications opened on the 01 August,2011 on the Commonapp website. There are only few colleges for which one needs to apply independently as they are not part of commonapp.

And your counselor fills the Final Report when your results are out, right? So that means I can leave the Graduation Date field in the app blank?

You write the month of graduation eg. March,2012 and also your midterm or what we call Half-Yearly Exam Report is sent after you have applied. Usually they have deadline for midterm and final report but as an International they accommodate as and when it is officially available from your school.

That’s what confused me in the first place: The Graduation Date field is to be filled in mm/dd/yyyy format.

Also, as a CBsE Board student, what do I fill in the Grades and Current Year Courses sections in the Academics part of the Common App?

In the courses field fill in the subjects that you have which will be the same as Class 11 and the grades field, you leave them blank.

Thanks for clearing that up :)

Can I ask my CLAT coaching teacher to write one of the two teacher’s recommendations? He knows me very well personally, but the college I’m applying to specifically mentions academic teachers.

Here is something I read on another thread that might help you decide

"A privately-hired tutor suggests an environment of privilege, and admissions officers are not necessarily going to relate to the situation. I agree about a rec from a teacher being better suited to this process. "

He is not a privately-hired tutor; I attend his classes along with many other students from various schools to prepare for the CLAT competitive exam. My question actually is whether the recommender is required to be a school teacher or not.

I have been reading about it and as I understand that a current school subject teacher recommendation would be most appropriate for college application purpose.

Thanks, I’ll ask a school teacher then :)

I am planning on applying through Early Action, but there seems to be problem due to a mistake I made. The deadline for the PROFILE application is November 1st, but the site says that the application must be submitted at least two weeks before the deadline, which I missed. Is this managable at all?

I’ll try that, thanks.

Is exceeding the word limits on the essays(one by approx. 100 words and the other by 15 words) a big problem?

I read somewhere when my daughter was in the process of writing college essays. You should always keep your essays under or at the limit. It shows that you can tell your stories succinctly and that you are able to think your ideas through. Also, it’s a good idea to show that you can follow directions.

Trimmed the essays. It was harded than I thought it would be.

^harder.

The PROFILE is encrypted, right?
