I was filling out my common app today and on the Current Year courses it asks for Course Credit Value. I am from CBSE background and we do not have any credit value system. What should I do or what should I fill in there??

Thanks in advance!!!

thank you anialways

@anialways i don’t think we can leave it blank as the Current Year courses shows as incomplete.

I don’t know if the CommonApp now has anything different from the older version. But last year, I listed the courses without specifying any credit value.

So if you still have to appear for Class 12 Finals, I think that might be the reason for ‘incomplete’ status.

And With CBSE there is no way to count hours anyway. Better to leave it blank then fudge for the sake of completing. I think there is a comment section where you could explain that.

Sorry, but that is not the reason that it is incomplete and also we can’t leave it blank.

So does it not ask for couse credit value for Classes 9/10 and 11?

no only current year courses i.e class 12

I asked them about this today and got this as a reply:

"Hello XYZ,

Thank you for your message.

It is up to your discretion as to how you decide to complete your application. The best resource for information may be your guidance counsellor, who would be more familiar with your personal situation. You may also consider contacting your school(s) of interest directly.

Thank you,

truth to be told my counsellor doesn’t have any clue about the common app or anything related to US universities as I will be the first student applying abroad from our school.

So let it be incomplete for the time being and carry on with the rest of the application. In the meantime someone here on CC might come up with an answer.

thank you aniwalways

No problem…Hope now you can carry on with the rest of the form.
