#13 Ugliest College

The 20 Ugliest College Campuses in the USA - A List of all Ugly Colleges

He seems to be picking certain comments and sticking with them. When I saw a picture of CMU or UMassAmherst, they looked really nice. I don't see any reason why he would rank them in the top 5 ugliest campuses. UCSD certainly doesn't have consistency with its campus, but I think its really nice (or at least parts of it). Just another BS report I guess (although Drexel does look really ugly from that photo)

He obviously hasn't been to Harvey Mudd.. And it seems as if he doesn't even know that Harvey Mudd and Pitzer are right next to each other.

Yes he does. He mentions them both as being part of the Claremont Colleges.

In fairness, no one in Claremont is really bragging about Mudd's buildings (although at least the campus is very aesthetically consistent), but the school did just win a pretty big landscaping award. I don't recall the details, but it was notable!

aww thats depressing...hes lame!

i think ucsd's campus is really nice

I agreed with UCSD at #13 because .... cmon.....

take a look at 6th college... its junk...

The dorm buildings of Revelle and Muir are nothing worth bragging about ....They have to fix that! Then you have Marshall average at best...

Revelle Fleets are pretty depressing. The Applied Physics & Math building in Muir is also old...

Most of UCSD is really old compared to other UC campuses like UCLA, Davis, and Santa Cruz despite being 47 years...

"It’s too high tech for my taste; too much glass, not enough personality. You may differ, but I’m the one making the list."

I'm glad he continuously points out that these are HIS opinions. I personally think our campus is something special...and with the Price Center expansion construction almost coming to a close, it's one more thing to look at!

at least ucsd has a real (and safe!) campus. i graduated and moved to an ivy league school that spans just eight measly city blocks and feel like a caged animal.

from i sawu, umd-cp and ucsd were pretty awesome.....

his title should add the line, "ugliest well known/prestigious colleges."

I came from UCLA, land of the red brick, and I have to say that, well...

I don't really like UCSD's campus. Sorry guys. My two years here haven't been spent admiring the architecture.

Honestly, I'd have to agree with those rankings. Maybe not #13, but definitely could be better.

I just toured UCSD & UCLA this past summer and all I can say is that the SD campus struck me as the #1 detriment. It's a great school and I'd love to go here but it's just not that attractive

I think the AP&M and Bio buildings are awesome looking. Also, the engineering quad is pretty slick. Maybe i lack a sense of style, but there are definitely some buildings that need work, especially in Revelle.

Yes, because we all know that people go to college to look at the buildings.

TienIsCoolX,

They don't, but let's be fair here: aesthetics matter, no matter what we say. All else equal, why wouldn't you choose the better looking campus to spend 4 years of your life at?

One of my professors might have told me about this. I think we are only finalists for some environmentally friendly thing? I wasn't really paying attention. He did say that the humanities department kind of bsed the whole thing and were totally shocked when they got word that we were finalists.

Anyway, Mudd isn't that ugly. Neither is Pitzer. We're just held to higher standards since we are right next to Pomona and Scripps; people think we are supposed to be beautiful like them.

Also, the author seems full of crap. The futuristic buildings he showed were actually mostly pretty cool. The comment about them having bad architects is ridiculous because anyone knows it's a lot harder to design buildings that are as abnormal as those.

atomic: Probably true...thanks for the clarification. I know that Pomona received or is a finalist for the same award.
