150 words or 2000 characters?

My application essays say that it should be 150 words or fewer, but it also says 2000 characters as the limit at the bottom. Which one should I stick to? (I think 2000 characters is like 250-300 words).

Also, for these kinds of short essay questions, should I do a 1 paragraph, 2 paragraphs, or a 3 paragraph essay?

PS in Andover it says to upload additional documents, and it’s required. what are those, and what do you recommend me to include?

thank u in advance oxox

Do 150 words. The AO’s have hundreds of essays to read and being concise is key. As for the paragraphs, only split it into paragraphs if necessary.

The additional documents shouldn’t be required, but if they are, they most likely mean supplemental information or art portfolios.

Addition documents are required for Andover?

Additional*

Additional documents are never required, the option is there purely for students who want to tell the admissions office something about them that is not evident in any other part of their application.

As for the OP’s original question, stick to the 150-word limit. They set that as they want to assess your ability to convey who you are or your message in few words that you are allocated. If there is no word limit, such as the Deerfield essay, write however much that is needed to convey your message well, without the overkill of restating your message too many times.
