I took the Barron's Diagnosis test and got 500-540 on all of the sections. I almost wanted to cry. I seriously thought I was smart until now. I'm taking the SAT this November. I've hardly studied. Is it possible to improve my score to a 1900, better yet 2000+, within this time frame? I know it's going to be hard, but I'm determined. Is 2 hours a day for 5 days and 6 hours a day (4 for 1 practice test, 2 to study) for 2 days enough?

do NOT use barron’s!! it’s overly hard and the questions are nothing like those of the real SAT.

i had to use barron’s for an SAT elective at school and scored ~450-490 for every test (writing was a little higher). i then took the SAT about a year later and scored ~640 on every section (writing 780, naturally good at it), practiced with the blue book, and I currently have a 720 reading, 710 math, and 800 writing from the actual test.

use the blue book and then get your REAL score!!! hope this helped :)

Crying about your scores or getting frustrated with them does not improve your score, obviously. So what you should do is actually master the content. If you can master the content you won’t have to ask questions like “is it possible to increase score from x to y in z time”.
If you’re asking for actual studying advice, I suggest studying at your own comfortable pace. If you’re getting tired and lazy while studying, stop. Come back after a break and continue. Doing a lot in a short amount of time is tough, so learn to manage your time.

@diddly123 - Thank you! I’ll definitely take one of the BB’s test today and see how well I do. I hope that my score does look better (:

@RedRoy - I’ll definitely push myself and study as much as I can. People in this forum seem keep saying “master” the content. So far I don’t know what level one needs to be to be a “master.” I guess I’ll figure sooner or later. Thank you!

@stronkstudent - Thank you for the motivation! What frustrated me is that I’m 97+ student in school (AP classes and Honors). I seriously thought that it would be easy and that I would do well. I’ll definitely push myself for 2,000+ since I plan on taking it again on January. Thank, again (:

@stronkstudent - Yes, I’ve never taken the SAT before. I meant to study during the summer but I procrastinated and just started now. I really regret it I thought I’d do pretty well in Math since that is my strongest subject but it looks like it’s the section I’m doing the poorest it. But the diagnostic test didn’t exactly say 1500, it said from 1500-1620 which is still pretty bad -__-

I haven’t gotten to much of the hard classes yet though since I’m only a sophomore. So, 97 isn’t as amazing compared to if I was a senior. I’ve only taken Alg 1 H (Middle School), Geo H (Middle School), Alg 2 H, WH H, Eng 1 H, Pre-cal H, Bio H, Office (Some computer class), PE, Health Team Relations (Medical Terminology, Ethics, Etc.) and am taking AP Calc, Health Science 1 (Basically Anatomy and Physiology), Eng 2 H, and Chem H right now.

Anyways, I need to the take the SAT to get into a boarding school and they will only accept October, November, December, and January SAT scores. Taking it in November will give me a month to study what I did wrong and fix it by January.

Hopefully Thank you for the motivation. I hope I eventually get it up. I didn’t get to take a full test by collegeboard since I did Barron’s math all day but I will soon and I’ll know exactly where I’m at. Everyone in this forum seems to make 2000+.

Did you improve? I improve from 1560 (440 R, 660 M, 460 W) to 1890 (560 R, 770 M, 560 W). How will universities see my improvement? Did you achieved your score with your prep?
@am1219 wow. Would you mind telling me which books you used for CR when you got a 560? I got a 1760 but I want an 1800 and CR is my lowest at 500.
In CR I bought the Hot words by barron’s, it really work since it is very organized and you really learned the words just by reading them. I also but barrons CR but I never used, I just made 4 practice test before the exam in a library and I analyzed what I got wrong and it really help me. But if you want to improve your math I highly recommend Dr. Chungs sat math since it gives you tips that most people do not realize ;).
