16.2% acceptance rate for Class of 2016

Cornell Releases Class of 2016 Admissions Results | The Cornell Daily Sun

I sincerely hope that Cornell doesn't overenroll again this year. My class (2015) was significantly overenrolled, and we felt it during class registration and housing signups.

Thanks for providing the stats.
It’s still higher than I expected it to be.

Forgive my stupidity, but how did they get to an overall rate of 16.2 if ED was in the thirties and RD was apparently 16.1?

Because you don’t take the average of the two, if that’s what you are thinking. The acceptance rate is the total number of applicants accepted divided by the total number of applications received, RD and ED

RD admit rate was 14.4%. Applications increased 4%, and the number of admitted students decreased 4%. Median SAT scores of admits were 710 verbal and 740 math.

That’s a drop from 18% last year. I think dropping almost 2% in one year is definitely a step in the right direction. Considering Cornell is the largest school in the Ivy League, the fact they accepted only 16% of applicants is really saying something.

Tx behappy…thought so…

Cortana: yup, knew that…still didn’t make sense…behappy cleared it up…
