I'm planning to take CHEM 141, MATH 131 (I took AP Calc), PSYC (major), and ASL 101 (I can sign). But, the problems are that MATH and ASL are 4 credits each, although I have experience with those subjects. So, this is 16 credits. I'm only an entering first-year student. Is it advised against taking 16 credits? I think I can do well in math, psych, and asl. As a pre-med student, I must take CHEM, which is strongly recommended to take in first year. What do you think?

What is ASL101?

You're fine bud, don't stress too much.

OP: I really can't answer the question but I will probably be taking 16 credits my first semester and I'm not worried. If you think you can handle it, then you'll be fine..

just so u know
don't worry about credits as much as you think.

just look at the number of classes. most people take 5 classes a semester. which is 15 credits if each is 3 credits. there really is no difference in the amount of work required for a 4 or 3 credit class, just an extra hour of class a week. i took 18 credits first semester...5 classes. no big deal.

if it makes you feel any better, my worst semester at uva was the semester i took 13 credits, and my best was when i took 18.

16 credits shouldn't be that bad, I agree with previous post. No need to stress. I took 15 my first. But could've easily taken one more class.

Take this from a UVA 2nd year, Taking 16 credits is fine, just as long as you understand the workload that will be expected of you. Chem 141 is pretty tough and Calc 131 is challanging but i feel you can handle it since you took chem your senior year.... lets see ASL is fine, so you should be pretty good...dont slack on the chem though...and there are long labs...GOOD LUCK
