17 semester units overload?

Hello,

I’ll be starting my first semester at CC very soon and wanted to get some feedback on how rigorous my schedule is. During junior and senior year of high school I took 5+ AP/honor courses every year. At CC, I’ll be taking the following courses:

Calc 2 (5 units), Chemistry 2 Lecture and Lab (5 units), Physics (mechanics) calc. based (4 units), mythology (3 units).

Should I sign up for an additional coursebased on the experiences that you guys have had? I understand that professors, homework loads, etc also factor into overall coursework but any words of wisdom would be appreciated. Thanks!

Start with this schedule for the fall. It is considered a full load, and three of those are potentially very challenging classes. Then when you know how well you handle the classes, you will have a better idea about the number of credits you can carry in future semesters.

I’d agree with happymomof1. 17 is a full course load plus the fact your taking Calc 2, Chemistry 2, and physics (course like those mixed together don’t normally work out well for students, because of how hard they are). Definitely don’t take any more than that. I’ve take 17 credit terms before, and from my experience it is well enough work.

Thanks for the feedback. I forgot to mention that I completed Chem I in summer along with an advanced English course and did extremely well on both of them. I only ask because I want to transfer out as soon as I can.
