Ok so I just pre-enrolled for spring classes and right now I have 18 credits but it's not including my fws which gets added later. Does anyone know what would happen when fws decisions go up on student center? Would I not be able to take it because I have over 18 credits already, or would it still get added to my schedule? Last semester I initially had 16 credits and when the fws was added, I had 19 and it allowed me to have this, though I later dropped a 2 credit class. Did this happen to anyone else? Can it be a loophole?

The max on Student Center is 22 credits, not 18.

Mine said 18 so I stuck to that limit.
I think different colleges have different caps.

course limits aren’t all that important. if student center does not present any errors, YOU ARE GOOD TO GO. If there are errors, just go to your registrar and file a petition form to add the course / petition for “overload”

I thought the 18 credit limit was just for first semester freshmen. I could be wrong though. With credit caps, I think Cornell is only strict for your first semester. Assuming decent grades, they’ll let you go over the cap without any fuss.

Some colleges have an 18 credit max for all semesters, like mine. Right now it won’t let me go over 18 and is giving me error messages so if anything, i guess ill just petition to take the extra class.

CALS has a 18 credit limit. if FWS gets added later, it’s fine. also, if you just add a class manually using the pink slips with your advisor’s signature, you can take as many credits as you want.

for any freshman in the future who want to take more than 18 credits if their college doesn’t allow it: it is a loophole. Just add up to 18 during pre-enroll and then ballot for a seminar. It’ll get added on and you can still take those original 18, so you’ll really have a max of 21.
