Does the 18-credit limit for CAS students apply to rising sophomores?

My Fall 2010 schedule depends on whether or not a professor will allow me into her ILR class (she wants me to e-mail her back when course enroll ends to see if there's still room in the lecture hall, which seems to mean I'll have to rely on add/drop but I'm not sure)...at the moment I'd like to enroll in 20 credits and then add/drop according to whether or not I'm in this class. That's possible, right? No matter what, in the end I'll end up with 16-18 credits.

bumpp. would really like to know by tomorrow morning x_x lol

i would avoid adding the ILR class until actual add/drop comes around in august…though you can try and see if you can still be enrolled in more than 18 credits (i dont think so)

most ILR classes fill but usually you’ll be able to get a manual add/drop :)

I’m CAS rising sophomore and I saw my limit go up to 22…
It says it in the StudentCenter under the link where it tells you the time when enrollment opens.

! I definitely do not think one can go over the 18 credit limit.
I wonder why that happened to playhacker though…

It depends on what your GPA is for how many credits you can enroll in. Generally the 18 credit maximum is for first semester freshman, but also if you GPA is low enough (can’t remember off the top of my head what it is. Check the CAS Registrar)

all CALS rising sophomores have 18 credit limit. for CAS, i have a friend who has a 22 credit limit but i didnt know that it depends on your GPA. anyhow, you can check in Student Center on the right side where it says enrollment and you click “details.”

Thanks everyone! Was able to check and found out my limit is 22.

i thought that the credit limit was 18 credits for first semester freshmen. After that you can take however many u want (if ur in CAS)

you need 2 semesters of grades with a 3.3 or better to have the limit go up to 22. i only know this because i’m a transfer with only one semester of grades and was told i’d have to wait if i ever want to overload. hope that helps
