sry, 1st time post ... forgot to hav a title...
who thinks 1900 to 2250 is possible in 3 months???
like i mean by good strategies...really hard working...?

almost anything is POSSIBLE
but it all matters how much YOU are committed.

why not 2400?

2400 is not possible for me....haha....i kno dat...

most definitely possible... i got a 2000 already and am hoping for a 2100+ next time with atleast 700 on all sections (already got 700+ on one of them)

it also depends on how much you studied for it the first time and obtaining that "i will not get anything wrong mentality" which is wat helps me get my good scores.

I am sure you can do it. But you will need: a) right resources.. meaning as many practice books as is necessary. Of course, it isn't necessary or economical to buy all the brands out there, but for SAT I purposes I bought most of the newest PR books, the blue book, and any old publications of SAT tests the collegeboard made. b) You will also need lots of motivation. For me, I often go on the websites of colleges and print out nice beautiful pics of campuses. I have almost a college of breathtaking Bay Area Scenery of UC Berkeley on my wall. It works wonders for kicking my lazy butt. c) time, like having an entire, undisturbed summer where you can dedicate lots of time to studying.

Good luck. My 1st SAT was 1960. My goal is 2250. So we're in the same boat. :)

PS: I heard that Colleges look at your score RANGES when it comes to SAT's and other standardarized tests. Sure, a 2400 will look impeccable, but in reality a 2250 will look similar to a 2400 number-wise, because both scores are within the range of 2200-2400. Just the same as I don't understand why some poeple want to retake anything above a 2300 just to raise a score in a particular section (like they want to raise their math score so it'll look good to MIT). It doesn't make sense and a student will impress colleges more by spending their time in EC's or writing their essays.

First score: 2040
Second score: 2270

While the amount of time between the two test dates was about 6 months, I only prepped for the second testing for a week, the week before the test date.

First score: 1970 June
Second: 2160 November
Third: 2240 (2270) January

Definately possible. I took lots of practice tests and studied some vocab for the third test.

i agree with the ranges post, but when they look at ranges they look at what the SAT has sent them on the score report, so the actual range that is compatible to the 800 on a particular section is 740-800 I believe. In other words, I got a 740 on a test and it put me in the top little bar section, which included 800 obviously...but no a 2200 will not be in the same range as a 2400; more like 2 range groups below.

thanx for replying...

I know a mate who scored a ~190 on the PSATs and got ~2300s on SAT I a few months later after intense study. It's possible. Just keep attacking.

get QAS and see what you got wrong....if it was all careless or mostly careless focus on either getting more sleep and/or devoting 100% concentration to the test, no mater what the elements do to conspire against that...I can attest to that, if you read my other thread about losing hundreds of points...

brand_182, actually an 800 is in the 770-800 range. A 770 is in the 740-800 range. Colleges don't see 740 and 800 as being the same, even though they are both very respectable scores
