... 2400er

Recently, one of my close peers earned a 2400 on her SAT. She took the SAT last year as a sophmore and earned a combined score of 1800. She did indeed disclose to me that she studied for at least three hours, daily. So, for anyone who yearns for something motivational, here you go!

I suggest you carry on.

hum....anything is possible.
So duh :]

Studying for one test for 3 hours a day makes me feel depressed, not motivated.

3 hours? Fat chance. It's likely much, much more.

How does anyone have the time to devote 3 hrs a day to the SAT?

3 hours a day will earn you 2200 guaranteed almost...you need 3 hours a day for a year to earn a 2400.

How long did she do this for???

She studied three hours everyday for exactly 129 days, but nonetheless, it was definitely worth it for her.

I'm doing four hours a day. :)

129 days??? Oh dear god.

I studied every other day for about 2 hours..just for a month and a half though..

I might do that again this summer but there's less pressure and I'm more motivated so hopefully I'll be able to increase my score 100 points or more.
No wayyyy I'm studying every day for that long. Not even for 60 days during the summer. One score is not worth that much time. To me, at least.

Was she aiming for a 2400??? That's quite a big jump..from 1800 to 2400! Wow. That's still pretty amazing. Congrats to your friend!

SAT's are seriously killing people. lol!
I never studied that much because I could never stay still. what I did was memorize the concepts and examples

In all, I memorized BB, OC, and most of the QAS questions. That equates to around 20ish practice tests.

But it was all worth it :]

ETS follows a strict guideline when designing test questions.
So if you can draw an accurate map, a 2400 should be at most few steps away.

Is there really 387 hours of material tested on the SAT?

Geez, she needs a life; go do some ECs.

nice job on her 2400

but i have to say studying for that much will probably guarantee a 2250+ but the rest 150 is all based on test questions/luck/limiting careless mistakes.

Thats why colleges dont really distinguish between a 2300 or a 2400.

But yea only if I could even get a 2300+...

Ewwww. That's nasty. Three hours a day? Wow. That is not worth it at all.

And HiPeople, there is no "luck" on the SAT.

Huh what do you mean no luck? Being sarcastic?

It comes down to whether you know all the material tested or not. If you know everything well enough, the actual questions asked (i.e. "luck") shouldn't matter at all.

Of course, proctors and stuff are a totally different story.

There is luck, but what Baelor's saying that the SAT has a set of patterned questions and etc so that a guy capable of a 2400 will get it every time or really close to it, and the "luck" factor may come from external influences rather than the test itself.

I don't completely agree based on my experience, but eh *** I've never taken the SAT or seen a SAT question in my life so..

One of my best friends got a 2400 on his first try. He's on a free ride at Duke right now and yeah, he's definitely a genius. His parents had put him in SAT prep classes from 7th to 10th grade, though, so idk. He's a hardworking and motivated guy in all fields. I guess if you want it enough you can get it.

I probably studied a combined 15 hours for both times I took SAT

^and u got a???
