Well so ive been prepping for the SAT on/off since these past few weeks. I took a diag test from PR got about 1600 three weeks ago. last week, i took a couple more exams, (from BB as well as PR) and Im getting solid 1800s - 1850s. In fact my math score improved from a 520 to 640 in a just two weeks!

So, how hard do u think it will be for me to get to a 2100 in about a couple months?? Right now, my main goal is to work for the PSAT, but im studyin for the SAT in order to study for the PSAT..suggestions?

I should say...that's much easier than from 2020 to 2300 ^^
It sounds like you're a junior >.< I'm speechless when seeing juniors preparing SAT/ PSAT. I don't know what I was doing at that time....

^^^ if it wasn't, then everyone would have got a 2100...while the reality is only some small portion of all test takers. (still big absolute number though >.<)

getting from a 1800-2100 is probably the hardest thing to do. Obviously 1800-2400 is harder but thats not possible n this context. I don't want to discourage but a 1800 -1900 is very common for people who actually study for the SAT. If you want to move up to the 2100 and above range there has to be a combination of quick thinking and hard-work.

I'm in the same boat as you I get around 1800s-1900s on my practice tests (got 1810 on 1st sat) but I'm aiming for 2050~ gl to you...btw what do you get in writing/cr?

I went from a 500 in CR to high 600s just by reading books.

If you're getting a score in the 1800s
then I'm pretty sure you're getting this score due to lack of focus (silly mistakes, MySpace, txting, music), not ignorance.

Dont buy review, buy practice and focus.

What I did was stopped listening to music, minimal myspace use, minimal txting. And simply read books.

My score improved almost 200 points just in CR in a few months.

Cheers. Impossible is nothing (I'm not advertising Adidas).

Are you guys illiterate? Im sorry but she's asking for 1800 to a 2100 and above in a COUPLE of months. Scoring high 600s just by reading books? a score of 1800-1900 means your already scoring high 600s. The hard part is getting those 600s into the upper 700s. Anyone can easily accomplish high 600s in any of these subject areas with less than a month of prep. The difficult part is pushing your 600 to 700s (especially in CR) because you're going to make VERY little mistakes meaning merely having a set of "SAT strategies" won't really do you much good unless you're an avid reader. I have friends who are constantly scoring in the 1900s but still arnt able to break the 2000 barrier. Im not being harsh, just realistic.

Besides, there are tons of threads out there asking the same exact questions. IS THIS POSSIBLE? IS THAT POSSIBLE? will it be HARD? We don't know you, so all we can do is give you some advice based on our own experience. Its obviously not easy, so go study and hope it does become light work come testday .

I agree. 500, no offense, is a really bad score. Improving a low score by 200 points is much more plausible than improving a 600 by 200 points.

If you have to ask how hard it is to get a 2100, then is it really within your reach? If you have no idea of how its going to be, then your chances look slim.

A 600 on a section allows you to miss about 16 in english and 13 in math (numbers from average in the BB). A 700 only allows 6-7 in english and 5 in math. You are only allowed to miss 40% of what you are missing now.

Quix, the last time I checked, I was literate. Couple of months, as in taking the sat in January/march because they are going to be a junior this year. It's definitely possible, and even though quix doesn't agree, its very possible.

Firstly, "Couple of months, as in taking the sat in January/march because they are going to be a junior this year." doesnt change the fact that he/she hopes for a 2100 and above in two months, and really doesnt change the fact that its not easy.
I guess we can all agree that az1698 is badly confused. Az one six nine eight , when did i say that such a feat was "impossible" ?

From the looks of your SAT score, i guess you're right. Anythings possible, even if you're illiterate.

Is it possible? yes
Is it very possible? no
It'll be hard, and 99% of people who try won't achieve a significant boost in 2 weeks time.

The boost you experienced from beginning of sophomore year to end of junior year is from learning more in school. However, once you finish junior year, there is nothing that can help you improve on the SAT. You learn a lot of grammar and math in those 2 years, so a noticeable improvement is likely. But its not like he has 2 years between his tests. His diagnostics tests were taken recently, so such a dramatic increase in such a short time frame is not only unlikely, it is extraordinarily unlikely. However, since he is a junior, the chances of him achieving a 2100+ or even a 2200 by the middle of senior year is very much possible.

my score went from a 167 PSAT to a 2100 SAT
I studied for about 2.5 months to raise my score so yes it is possible. just need to do a lot of work
my biggest problem was timing though...so it was a bit easier to fix. also i improved my vocab a lot and by only missing one sentence completion it offered a bit more wiggle room. I read a lot of short stories and passages similar to SAT ones and just answered the questions.
Do the entire blue book....time the sections....do any other real tests you can find!!
just work hard.
i wouldnt expect results in a matter of weeks...it will most likely be in a matter of months.
after a couple weeks my score went up fast but then started to level out and slow down as i was approaching higher scores...which is what will happen to anyone trying to improve high level scores

hey. dont worry. I actually got a 1500 on my sophomore year. Studied little and raised my score to 178 on the sophomore PSAT. Then i studied hard over summer and i actually score around 2100s right now. You can do it too.
My math score went up from 650-->780
My CR score went up from 550-->680
My Writing score went up from 580-->750
Keep taking the practice tests. you will do fine. GUD LUCK :)

^I went to an SAT school, because I was pressured into it and at the time I didn't have that much confidence in my ability, so I thought what the hell.
It was some asian place where we took a diagnostic test once a week and then went over it the next day.

I would have stuck with it, just for the strict testing simulation, if not for the high inaccuracy of the tests. The math was phenomenally difficult in comparison to the actual SAT math. The highest I EVER scored was a 630 and that was on my last day. I know there were people there who scored perfects on the actual SAT math, but were only getting 680-low 700s.

Long story cut short, I was doing review on the side on my own with the blue book and 10RS. I felt that the class wasn't helping me that much so I dropped it and went full time studying on my own. BEST CHOICE ever. SAT classes are not very efficient, if you have to go to one, go to one with ACCURATE tests from QASes and BB.

To go from 1820 to 2100 is by no means an outlandish task, but it will require concentration and hard work to get there. This is, opposite to popular belief, the very nature of the SAT test doesn't really prove the intelligence, potential, or inborn talents of an individuals(and in reality, no test can). In fact, one can even see obvious patterns in SAT questions and there are numerous methods that can help you train to get better at SAT(especially in the Math section) and no question on the SAT really requires ingenuitive creativity or any higher order thinking. The best method to go is to simply do as much practice as you can, learn some succinct strategies and forget about the classes cause they are just a waste of time and not worth your $$$.
