I got a 1900 on official SAT and a 28 on a practice ACT test. Would it be productive if I focused my time prepping on both or would it be a waste of time since the scores are pretty much the same? If so, which test I really put my time into? Also, which test is easier to improve on?

ACT

heres why:

The SAT math tests the persons ability to solve trivial math problems that are intentionally designed to trick the test taker. Therefore the SAT math doesn’t actually test one’s math ability just, their attention to detail and ability to translate questions. You may be in college level math, studying differential equations or fourier analysis, yet score around a 600 in the SAT math.

Therefore your 500 doesn’t mean you ‘suck’ at math it just means your unfamiliar with the SAT math language. The only way to get that up to an 800 is to practice, practice, practice.

Whereas with the ACT, they aren’t trying to trick you (well to some extent they are) but figure out what you know and what you don’t. ACT isn’t as convoluted and thus easier to prep for.

Also I would retake the SAT sometime next year just for kicks but don’t waste your time practicing for it.

bump, I got the same exact ACT (1 time no study) and SAT (3 times a few days each study) scores and I sent my SAT out. Question is, should I send my ACT out as well, since it’s in the same range (34 science, 28 math, 23 english w/writing, 24 english w/o, 25 reading)?
