Which test should I retake? or should I retake both?

I took both the SAT and the ACT in the spring. I got a 1930 on the SAT (640-CR, 640-Math, 650-Writing) and a 30 on the ACT (34-english, 27-math, 32-reading, 27-science). I really would like to bring up my scores a bit but do you think it would be a better use of my time to focus on one test now rather than taking both again in the fall? Or should I just do both for the heck of it? I think my ACT is slightly better than my SAT score now and may be a little easier to bring up but are there any benefits to focusing on the SAT instead? Any opinions would be helpful.

Retake the ACT. I had similar scores on my first tries: 2090 on the SAT and 32 on the ACT. I never took the SAT again and only retook the ACT twice receiving a 33 then a 34. ACT seems the way to go, just work on math and science (math was my problem too, I raised my math sub score from a 28 on the first try to a 33 on the last). You should be able to get your ACT up to a 32 at the least.

Thanks! I think I’ll take your advice and focus on the ACT now. If you don’t mine me asking, how did you manage to bring up your math score 5 points? Did you use any specific study book besides the red book??

I think you should retake the sat, because it is way easier to bring up the sat then act…

I used Barron’s ACT 36 prep book and I just reviewed the math section starting about a week before I took the test. I also had an extra semester of trig/pre-calc between the tests, so that might’ve also been beneficial. I disagree with the above poster, I actually think it is easier to bring up a score for the ACT than it is for the SAT, and the scores I’ve seen from others seem to prove that.

well, probably you are true on what you said, but the sat questions are usually easier then sat. they really are…
thanks

The SAT and the ACT are two completely different tests. I wouldn’t say that objectively one is easier than the other. The ACT is easier for some and the SAT is easier for others. The way in which each tests ask questions is totally different. You may find that the SAT is easier for you, but it appears that the ACT is easier for the OP since she (I’m being slightly sexist here assuming “daisy” denotes a female) scored higher on the ACT than the SAT on her first try.

well, then ok. but just saying I think the sat is easier. and it is… but…
thanks

Retake ACT and bring up the Math score. That is all you need. However, more schools would superscore SAT than ACT. So you still need to keep the other section scores in ACT high.
