I'm a sophomore and really want to take a film class that's restricted to juniors and seniors. While it's not limited to film majors, I'm still applying to the film school next year.

I have a long background in independent film production, so I know I can handle the workload, but does anyone have any tips for what I should include in the e-mail to make the professor more inclined to give me a PTE number?

Thanks!

In my experience, the class restrictions are by class standing, not necessarily year in school. So if you have enough units to be a junior, you can enroll in the class even if you’re a first year. If not, just tell the professor everything you told us.

Not quite sure about film classes specifically, but for most classes, the class restrictions usually go away during your 2nd pass. At least that has been the case for me in the past years: I managed to enroll in classes with junior/senior restriction when I was only a 1st year on my 2nd pass.
