I am a rising senior, and I plan to major in sports management (Almost a family business, so I have connections to sports industry). I'm from Indiana, so I've obviously looked into IU. But their sports management program seems to be lacking. My number one choice right now is Marquette. I visited it and loved the school.

However, I am in a position for a full ride to IU, and probably will need loans to pay for Marquette.

Knowing that I can have a full ride, I feel somewhat guilty making my parents pay for part of the tuition (I would qualify for some FA, but would definitely have to pay for a good amount). Is it worth taking out loans and going for my first choice if I can get a full ride to IU, even if it means changing my major?

With a quick google search I found Commission on Sport Management Accreditation. Marquette’s program is not listed. Indiana University is on that list. While I don’t put absolute faith in accreditation, it may make a difference with later networking, etc. Combine that with the full-ride and it is hard to see the downside of attending IU, as long as you also want the large university setting.

IU’s program is in the department of kinesiology, and is directed more toward running a rec league than in the sports industry. Marquette does not offer a sports management major exactly, but offers a program through the Sports Law Institute and a joint JD/MBA program.

You could apply to both places, and wait to see what the financial aid packages look like next April.

There are a number of threads about choosing the cheap/free option over the expensive one, especially in the Parents Forum. If you look around for them, you might get some useful ideas.

Wishing you all the best.

^^ You do realize the program you cited is a Masters level program, right? And you need to have an undergrad degree to apply?
