Hey guys so I've got a tough decision on my hands and was looking for some advise. I've been accepted to both Michigan and Indiana, but with Indiana I received a $9,000 scholarship. Living in California it is now $18 grand a year cheaper to head to IU. HOWEVER, I am the son of two Michigan alums and have bled maize and blue my whole life. I fell in love with both campuses and this decision is progressively getting harder

As a career I am looking to get into basketball coaching or some other form of personal training/sports management. I understand that the programs at Indiana for these fields are excellent but am not to informed about how they are at Michigan. Anyone with any information or advise?

I would definitely have mixed feelings myself. I am from Indiana, and I know IU is one of the most beautiful campuses in the country (next to Michigan) in addition to having great academic fields. However, because IU is not known for its engineering and lack thereof, Michigan is definitely my dream school. Since I am only applying to UMich out of state and am not a native, I wouldn’t be able to give a more in depth analysis of the university in the fields you are interested in. From my understanding though, Michigan has some of the highest ranking programs of any university around. That being said, as you know, IU also has a pretty good sports trainer/athletic management program.

If $ is an issue IU may be your path. If it isn’t, I would probably go all out for UMich especially considering that your parents/guardians went there. Just my thoughts though.

hey…hello…i too have the same problem…i am from india and have been offered masters in sports management from michigan , indiana univ and u of south carolina for fall 2011 semester. when are you starting? do you have any advice.thank you very much

This is a no-brainer. Michigan does not offer more opportunities in your chosen field. In fact, Indiana may be the better option in your case. Add to that the fact that you love both campuses and that IU saves you $70k over 4 years, and you have got an easy decision. Go Hoosiers!
