so i got deferred from stanford and i had previously had straight As or A+. This semester has been hard and i am expecting to get a B+ and 2 or 3 A-. They are all AP or honors classes. Will this be detrimental to my chances for admission? I know that the B+ will but do A- look bad or does stanford just consider grades regardless of + or -? I would be really disappointed if I ruined my chances with this one semester after 3 years of hard work.

What is Stanford’s ED deferral acceptance rate, probably about 3 percent? Arguably, it’s the most competitive university in the nation. At this point, it’s a “crap shoot” for you . . . and for EVERY other RD applicant, for that matter. I suggest you concentrate on your remaining applications (and, of course, on attaining the best possible grades this semester). If you’re admitted to Stanford – HURRAH – however, in the mean time, focus on your future.

no the deferral acceptance rate is 15%

@mkm888: I most skeptical. Last year (Class of '18) Stanford’s EA acceptance rate was 10.8 percent (ivysuccess.com). Obviously, it is extremely unlikely – not to mention illogical – that the eventual deferral admissions rate would exceed the EA acceptance rate (and by roughly 50 percent).

ok but thats what they said in the email they sent me

15% sounds more like it because deferred REA applicants tend to be more competitive than those of the RD round. 3% is the admit rate for the RD round entirely.

15% is a much higher rate than 3% but still it’s only 15%. Better start thinking about alternatives
