It looks like I took too many hard classes and probably will not make a 4.0 (a 3.6-7 is looking likely now). How much of a negative impact would this have on SCEA deferred? Do they also take into consideration that I skipped French 4 and moved on to AP and will probably not get an A in AP?

You should wait to see if you’re rejected/accepted/deferred first. Also, take into account that Stanford traditionally defers very few of its REA applicants. The best advice I could give you is to just try to make the best grades in those classes

agree with Harambee^
but if you are deferred, they will not really care if you skipped French 4
but it will definitely have a negative impact on the RD portion if you are deferred. the entire point of deferral is to evaluate the progress during 1st semester

IF you do get accepted, the 3.6 is perfectly okay. Some B’s will not get your application rescinded…a C or D avg in a class may be a different story though.

so 13.8% get accepted, 13.8% get deferred and the rest are rejected? (checked 2010 numbers). that’s not too bad i suppose.

haha i’m not worried about being rescinded. i intend to keep learning physics and calculus at the minimum, and i want to get AP french down so i can get a few credits if i’m lucky enough to go to stanford

you can waive the foreign language requirement with a 4 or a 5 i believe, and get credit for a 5. if im lucky enough to get in im somewhat ‘spared’ the ordeal of taking the gov/macroecon ap tests since stanford doesnt accept those

I wish I didn’t have to register for tests until after April 1. Unless I somehow get in REA, I’m going to have to pay for a lot of tests that I hopefully won’t ever use…

yeah thats a hella lot of money if you have to pay to take them, and end up not needing them at all. also a big use of your time and drain on sleep during second semester.

ahaha we all wish dont we. or you know, they should let us all in because we’ll be so grateful and love them so much that we’ll be ideal little stanfordians.

When’s the deadline for AP registration anyway? I remember from last year that my school did it sometime toward the end of March, but I’m not sure…
