Ok just as a disclaimer, I'm not trying to sound arrogant or cocky. Basically, I'm just a very tense junior right now especially because 1st semester is coming to an end. I thought I had everything under control until we got our finals were returned and here is where is stand:

Honors English 3: A
AP Chemistry: B+ (MAIN POINT OF CONCERN)
AP Computer Science: A
Honors Bio: A- (we take bio junior year instead of freshman year like most schools)
AP Calculus AB: A
US History: A-

doesn't really apply but just for reference:
SAT Math 2: 800
SAT 1: (planning on retaking in Jan) 2250: 800M / 750W / 700R
haven't taken 2nd subject test but I wanted to take chem...now I'm rethinking that :(

I really am hoping to get into a highly ranked UC like Berkeley or LA or even USC for math or statistics. I feel like that B+ may make things a little tricky. I also had a B+ in sophomore year so 2 B+'s so far. I know I shouldn't be complaining, but is there still hope / high chances if I get mostly A's and A-'s (not B's) next semester? I know that it's possible for me to do so because for AP classes, we don't have finals 2nd semester and the final is what turned my grade in AP chem from an A- to a B+. Sorry if this is really long but I could really use some advice right now! Thank you so much and good luck to everyone else out there :)

Your SAT is great for the schools you mentioned. Same with your subject test. It really depends on your class rank. If your GPA is in the top, let’s say, 9 percent or so, you really have nothing to worry about. Btw, I would suggest taking the SAT chem and scoring well, since it will show the admissions officer that you are good at the subject, and that the B+ is because the teacher was strict. In other words, getting a 750+ will show that you have mastered the subject, which will take their attention off the B+. I would suggest getting the Barron’s book. While you’re studying for the AP exam, just skim the book, and I’m sure you will score great. Meanwhile, just put a little extra effort and get the B+ to an A for the second semester. It’s nothing to worry about. Just a chance for redemption :D. Best of luck.

Thank you so much @Classof2018app I think that you’re right about the chem subject test. I think I can manage a high score on the test considering I’m taking AP? Hopefully I will though! Have you taken AP chem and/or the chem subject test? Is there any other advice? Thanks again. I feel like there may be hope. lol

I am taking AP chem right now. I took the SAT last month and got a measly 700. The thing was though that I had only taken 1 semester of chem, and so I wasn’t really prepared for like 30 percent of the test. Then again, nothing was riding on it, since I had already scored well on the biology subject test. The Collegeboard specifically looks at the AP curriculum, and decides to test the students on some things that are not in the curriculum. Basically, about 15 or so percent of the test is not covered in your AP class. That is why I suggest studying for it separately by getting the Barron’s book. 15 percent might not seem like a lot, but the curve is brutal (you can’t miss a single question to get an 800 for instance). I had basically missed like 8 out of something like 70 questions, and the result was a 700. Bottom line, my only advice is to study out of Barron’s. It over-prepares you, which is a good thing. And also, don’t even go near the Blue book that Collegeboard sells, since they have put a very easy practice test for chem in that book (I scored an 800 in it). They try to make you think that you’re prepared for the test.

You need to calm down man, you’re going to be fine.
You’re pretty much an all A student with solid grades and a solid SAT. A 2250 is a pretty great score, retake it if you want though.
The grades you have aren’t going to keep you out of a top school, trust me

Thanks @kmoh14
I was just freaking out and I think I’m starting to get over it now but it’s always comforting to know that there’s still a chance of getting this right lol.
Yeah I am planning on retaking the SAT this month in fact! haha
