We are visiting early June, can you all please give us some hotel and restaurant recommendations? Thanks!

Hotel options are really well laid out on tripadvisor.com. I have found it to be very reliable in descriptions of Athens hotels. The Hilton Garden Inn is downtown, and very nice. There is a Marriott Courtyard about a block from downtown that is okay, in a strange neighborhood. If you don’t want to pay “downtown Athens” prices, there is a Marriott Town Center Suites that is very nice about 10 minutes away. Downtown abuts UGA, so I love staying downtown. You might also consider checking availabilty for the UGA Hotel and Conference Center on the UGA campus, Great facility in the heart of the campus.

There are numerous eateries downtown, from Starbucks to very high end restaurants. Once again, tripadvisor.com can steer you to your price range and type of food you’d like to have at meals.

Note–when we visited, you registered separately for the admissions discussion, the tour (which is done half by bus and half walking) and any honors college discussions. The tour filled up quickly.

It’s a great city, even if you decide UGA is not for you, Athens offers a lot of great food, music and activities.
