Hey!
Just got my AP scores and I can finally decide which possible classes to take.

I'd really appreciate it if someone can have a look at my schedule for 1st and 2nd term i have in mind so far. From APs: Chem, Phys x 2, CS, Linear Algebra, Calc BC, Econ x 2

1st:
ENGRD 2110 (3) Object Oriented Programming & data structure
ENGRD 2700 (3) Basic Engr Probability & Stats
ORIE 3300 (4) Optimization I
English FWS (3)
MATH 1920 (4) Multivariable Calculus for Engineers

17 credits

2nd:

ENGRI 1270 Introduction to Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Engineering (3)
ORIE 3120 Industrial Data and Systems Analysis (4)
ORIE 3300 Optimization II (4)
MATH 2930 Differential Equations (4)
English FWS (3)

18 credits

Would these schedules be too much? If so, which classes should i get rid of/replace?

I'm trying to self-study Math 1920 right now, but won't be sure if i can actually pass the CASE exam and skip it.

You would not be able to take ORIE 3300 without Math 2940. Also, based on the engineering discipline you pick you must complete all the matriculation requirements by sophomore year with a certain cutoff GPA (varies by department). Otherwise, you will not be officially in engineering school. Check Engineering Handbook.

Hey!
I got a response from the math department and have been confirmed to receive credits for Math 2940 (Linear Algebra) as transfer credits.

To declare major as Operations Research, the handbook did specify that i would need

“Grade of C in ENGRD 2700, Math 2940, C- in ORIE courses”
–> doesn’t this imply that i would be able to take ORIE courses BEFORE affiliation (as long as they are C- or better i can affiliate)?

Am i missing something here?

ORIE 3300 Optimization I only requires Math 2940 as a prerequisite and ORIE 3120 doesn’t have a prerequisite.

IMHO, do not take 2940 as transfer credit. Without taking it at Cornell it is a steeper road for ORIE 3300. How about the other first year requirements not covered by AP? I am not sure what those are for OR but I would get them out of the way first including the required PE classes.

I think for OR (just like other majors), there’s ENGRI x 1, PE x 2, FWS x 2, and Transition to METLAB.

I suppose Linear Algebra provides a strong foundation for Optimization (since it’s a prerequisite), perhaps i’ll try ORIE 3300 and if it gets too hard i’ll drop down and retake the 2940?

If you have any lib ed requirements to complete I would complete them in the first year as it becomes a distraction in your upperclassmen years. This is just my preference.
