I think I posted something like this a while ago but no one was answering it. I have a few questions about the 2 + 2 program and the branch campuses. Since I transferred with under 60 credits, I had to go to a branch campus, but I will attend UP in (fall) 2013. Is it true that branch campuses are GENERALLY easier academically compared to UP ? Is it true that people go to a branch campuses sometimes if they aren't ready academically to handle a school like UP ? Why don't more people do the 2 + 2 program ? If you save money, start off with less stress; due to easier course loads, and are usually closer to home, why not 2 + 2? I know there are many reasons but does it look like you didn't do well academically if you started at a branch campus and moved on to UP ? If anyone has any experience with the 2 + 2 program and wants to post how the transition was, how the course work compares, etc, please do. Especially if you are a biology/pre med student. I know the campus you went to does not show up on your transcript so med schools for all they know could assume that I went to UP for 3 years. Can that be true?

bump…

My sister went to the 2+2 because she couldn’t get into main campus. Her twin sister got into main campus with better SAT scores.

I can’t recall her having any significant transition issues, but she wasn’t pre-med.

I don’t think that med schools will care at all about the branch campus - main campus issue. It’s not particularly relevant.

People go into main campus because it’s more fun to be at main campus than a branch campus. They generally aren’t thinking about it being easier at the branch campuses.

But branch campus classes (at least my summer class there) seemed more laid back and easier. Much smaller class sizes.
