700 Math, 800 Crit Reading, and 740 Writing
What are my chances at Ivy Leagues if I don't retake the exam to improve math score? I have always been better in verbal. GPA @ 4.27 weighted, about 7/280 class rank. 211 PSAT
Any thoughts?

your chances are simply put, excellent. don't retake you're fine..you should worry more about maybe pushing an extra spot in the class rank.

i hardly think going to 5/280 is going to look better! there's not much u can do but maintain!!!

You already have an 800 on the critical reading under your belt. Now you should concentrate on getting the math and writing closer to 800. Ivies like Princeton don't care how many times you take the SAT b/c they'll only consider your highest score in each section. Most Ivy admits score in the 750-800 range on math.

where the hell did u read that the top ivies are looking for 2250-2400 people, are you serious, did you even receive the percentiles, how can you give such a ridiculous score range?? bro anything above 2100 is SAFE and it will be proven after percentiles are shown, the median score will be like 1700 man, u have to think about the rest of the population not just ccers...2100 = 1400. and i still think she doesnt have to retake, you don't want to look obsessive, your scores are perfectly fine, just stick with them and work hard in school/ap exams/sat iis, your sat i is better than just fine.

1400 never was "safe" at Ivy League schools.

you are definitely competitive at like cornell, penn.

but really it comes down to your EC's, essay, recs, everything for the top ones. for scores & grades, you're fine.

but if you think you can bump up that math considerably (at least 50 points) then def. give it a go.

omg have u guys not read the posts lately...umm well so many of the ppl who got into many of the top ivys ...yale to be precise had scores in the 1300's and 1400's i even saw like 3 ppl with high 1200's who got in- they werent recruits either. seriosly where do u get off saying that ivies are looking for 2250-2400? have reading these boards shown u nothing??? the sat is such a measly factor, so many perfect scores get turned down. so in conclusion dont fret about ur sat!!

elodie, although I agree SATs are not the most important factor, they are a factor. Having a 1200/1300 is not advisable (I'm retaking a 1400). However, a 2240 should be fine (roughly a 1500 equiv).

of coarse it is a factor... if it wazntt no one would bother to take it, spend so much money on it,and later make a post asking if the score they got on it was good enuf...i wish they weren't 1 tho :(

taking the sats must feel like paying tax's : ppl hate doing them yet are in a way forced to do them for their "own good"...however tax's have a fruitful outcome whilst the latter is just a way to loose a perfectly good sat. morning.

Leadership -- you'll need that in your ECs -- sports too helps. You'll have a tough time of it at HYPSM, but other Ivy-caliber schools look good.

schools are picking students by lottery these days. i got into penn (i know it's not the most prestigious ivy, but it's an ivy) with an 1150.
