My grades weren’t the best, I know. I’m sure I have a 79% average though which is a 2.3 gpa right? I took the SAT, got an 1190. It didn’t have the essay portion so i’m waiting to take another SAT and get above a 1300. I live in NYC and I was wondering what colleges I could get into with my gpa. I’m aware I could do 2 years of community college then transfer to a better college.
Lots. The better question is what are you interested in? Do you want to study History? Economics? Do you want an urban environment? Rural? 25,000 students? 2,000 students? Etc, etc. There’s a college for everyone.
What can you afford to pay?
Some places to look at to get you going: Kansas State University, Utah State, Weber State U (Utah), Southern Connecticut State, most branch campuses of Penn State U (not the main campus in State College), some branch campuses of the U of Texas (not the main one in Austin), West Virginia U, Some branch campuses of the U of Wisconsin (not main campus in Madison).

Budget will be very important since few colleges will cover your financial need. You’ll have to apply widely and compare offers.

Look for community colleges in NY that have dorms and then you can go away to school. There are plenty that fit that description.

How much will your parents pay each year? Ask them, please don’t guess. We see later posts from a lot of disappointed students who thought their parents would pay more.
