2.6 GPA...

So my school just told me that our GPA’s are only for our junior year grades… and I did pretty poorly junior year due to some complicated problems (harassed and bullied by a teacher and the school didn’t let me switch out of the class, it was an AP English class and I failed the class but got a 4 on the exam; as well as failing Pre-Calc honors by 1 point because I had pneumonia and missed a month of the course and couldn’t bounce back - I took summer school and got an 89 in english but couldn’t afford summer school for math) to give me a 2.6 weighted GPA… However, if you factor in my freshman and sophomore year grades (almost all A’s and a few B’s freshman year in nearly entirely honors classes, a couple A’s, mostly B’s, and one C sophomore year in, again, mostly honors classes) I have closer to a 3.2 GPA weighted. Will colleges even look twice at me? I have a strong essay and strong recommendation letters, as well as a lot of extracurriculars and leadership roles in said extracurriculars. I also had a 27 on my first time taking the ACTs, however I have a concussion and I’m not expected to be recovered by the time early decision ACT dates for my top school (Syracuse). Do I even have a chance for colleges? I’m so paranoid about my GPA.

You can explain it in your applications and in your essays. Some colleges re-calculate GPAs anyway.

Don’t waste essay space on negatives. I would try to get a hold of your transcript as soon as possible – see what exactly colleges will be seeing.
