hey…
So in the first semester of freshman year in hs, i had a 2.67 gpa… I had a rough transition, but every semester after I had a 4.0 which gives me about a 3.81 avg unweighted. If i were to apply to a UC or another school how would they take this into consideration.
thanks
My understanding is UC’s consider 10th and 11th grade marks (for the most part, depending on your freshman courses) and give consideration to upward trends in performance. Best of luck.
UCs recalculate HS GPA with 10th-11th grade course grades, although 9th grade course grades will be visible to admission readers (and D and F grades disqualify courses from counting toward the a-g subject requirements).
CSUs recalculate HS GPA similarly and just plug it into an eligibility index formula to rank order applicants to a campus and major.
Other colleges evaluate HS courses and grades in their own ways. For those that use holistic reading, upward trend is better than downward trend.

Many other schools besides the Cal States and UC’s will use 9-11th grades and even ask for a Senior Mid-year transcript so Freshman grades will count at these schools. Also Cal Poly SLO uses 9-11th grades in their GPA calculation which is the Cal state exception.
