I have attended community college for 1 year but my family's moving so I have to go to another cc. At my current college, my gpa is a 3.9 (might go down to a 3.7 after summer session). How will uc's calculate the gpa? will they average out the 2 colleges or look at them separately?

they will take the average grade point of all your UC transferable coursework from all the institutions you’ve attended.

Just a word of advice, you may want to get your official transcripts before you move since it will save you the hassle of getting them later.

They will take each individual grade you have received for each transferable course, and then simply calculate your GPA from those grades as if they were all from one school. One may think that this is the same as taking an average of your individual GPAs, but it is not. Taking an average of individual GPAs does not account for the “weight” of each grade received (i.e. a 5-unit grade weighs more than a 3-unit grade).

don’t take the same courses again like intro to psych and psych or something like that at your new community college, make sure you don’t get duplicate credit and you’re not wasting your time
