2 days for ED II

2 MORE DAYS!!!!

is anyone else freaking out?

I applied EDII, but I am not freaked out. I already got in somewhere else, so I know that I'll go to college somewhere. Middlebury would be nice, though. Anyway, waiting is always the hardest part.

I am quite sure I will be rejected, so I am not really nervous. Being deferred on the other hand could be disturbing.

I've been deferred. I am looking forward to my experience at the International University in Bremen :) Everyone else, how go?

Bogororo you've been deferred? That's depressing cuz your stats and achievements should have gotten you in...now I have no doubt that I'll be rejected RD...sigh
Congratulations on getting into IUB though, and I still think you have a shot in RD.

oh that sucks. i was hoping to meet you people. also, i have romanian friend here but i will need a new one at middlebury!! (just kidding...i don't collect people like marbles or something lol) anyway, good luck at the international university. middlebury is stupid for not taking you. i am annoyed.

i'm deferred too. i'm very happy to have not gotten rejected, but it's still sort of annoying. back in college purgatory...sigh.

what the heck...i so totally did not deserve to be admitted. why are you all being deferred? this is ridiculous. my friend was deferred from upenn a while ago...but like, that's foreseeable. middlebury is a good school, but why so snobby? grrr....

haha, it's okay...i'm sure you deserved it. I wasn't even sure if I deserved to be deferred, so I'm greatful. I"m going to keep trying, though.

Deferred too :( I'm surprised you guys got deferred too. I was sort of expecting a deferral. I'm glad I didn't get rejected but isn't a deferral not too different from a rejection? I've heard that the chances of an acceptance after being deferred are really low. Is that true? I don't know too much about it.

Anyway, what are your plans now? I don't know if I should send in anything etc. I really didn't like the Common App essay I sent in and I wish I could send in the other essay I sent in for some other applications, but that's probably silly.

Anyway, good luck to those deferred! Hope you guys get in the next round :)

hmmm. maybe this is some sort of plot on the part of middlebury, like since edII is so close to rd anyway, they're just being lazy and pushing everyone over into rd. like um, have you heard of anyone who applied edii and got in?

But of course, my friend. They are all out to get us :P
I haven't heard of anybody getting in. I would be more than thrilled to see his/her stats, though.

does anybody have stats on how many ED applicants deferred? or on how many deferred applicants are admitted?

i got deferred EDI. they really arnt kidding when they say that applying early decision will not increase your chances of being accepted.

So, my account has not worked for the entire weekend. So far, I have no idea whatsoever on my decision...

there are some stats here
http://community.middlebury.edu/~phinney/welcome/

It always amazes me that Midd receives so many more ED applications than Amherst and Williams. According to that website, Midd received 741 ED applications, compared to 529 at Williams and 367 at Amherst. Perhaps this is due to the fact that Midd has 2 rounds of ED?

Anyway, Midd accepted 38% of ED I and II applicants, which is a much higher acceptance rate than RD (usually around 25%), so there does appear to be a comparative advantage.

Hey,

I was accepted which has been such an amazing relief and I am now so excited about the prospects of four years at Midd. But today, I got my financial aid package and if things stay the way they are, I can't afford to go. Please please, if anyone has any suggestions on how I can make this work, I'm desperate. Is it worth taking out a student loan? I'm a Canadian citizen so it makes things slightly more difficult. Should I re-appeal? and on what grounds?

Thanks,
Hil

I had the same problem as u and I appealed for more aid. They've increased it twice but it's still pretty hard for me to go and I'm still considering the offer. I'm sure u can try to appeal, just try to figure out why they didnt give you what u expected.

i don't understand. it sounds like everyone got a bad deal, but my friend got in (int'l) and he got excellent aid.
