First of all, I'm looking for some insider information on the Mendoza School. What's the best part and wha'ts the worst part? When can someone start taking business classes?

Next, Here are my stats. Please let me know what my chances look like.

GPA: 97
AP classes: 6 total (in a small Catholic school that doesn't offer many more.)
Rank: Not given to college, but somewhere in the top 3 of 70
Projected SAT: 1400
The essay and recommendations should be solid (I know it does not make a huge difference, but one of my recs is coming from the head alumni person in the D.C. area.)
Extracurriculars:
Eagle Scout
Student Body treasurer
2 years JV basketball
3 years Varsity tennis
2 years chess club (a.k.a. popular club)
100 hour presidential service award twice
student ambassador

Just a question: Isn't the rec supposed to be done by a teacher? I am in a similar situation, with connections to top alumni, but ND's app calls for a teacher, and my counselor said stick with that.

Maybe, but my alumni connection offered to write a recommendation for me before I even knew I'd apply. I assume she knows more about the application process than me because she has to know this kind of stuff to be an official representative.

I actually went to a meeting with an admissions officer last week that was sponsored by a local alumni club. He said they didn't want alumni recs. Somebody even asked him specifically and he said that they only care about the teacher rec, not any other kind, even from alumni.

I had a recommendation the first time around from the Archibishop of Denver...didn't work out too well for me. Oh well, that is why God invented transfer admissions!
