do you use a tablet with a stylus pen to take notes? why or why not?
For classes heavy on PowerPoint, I would use a tablet and stylus (iPad mini) to take notes by directly annotating the slides. Way easier than printing them out beforehand (in black and white).
It’s been a long time since I was in college, but professionally I use MS OneNote on my iPad to take notes (haven’t used a sheet of paper in over a year). I really haven’t seen a better way to organize notes than this. When my company finally supports BYOD for PCs, I plan on trading in the iPad and laptop for a Surface Pro.
I have separate sections for each of my clients, and each meeting and project concept that I work on gets a separate page in the section. This makes it incredibly easy to review later. Additionally, it integrates with Outlook and other MS Applications to support functions such as embedding an Outlook task (with due date) from an entry in OneNote. You can import images and objects into your notes as well, so think about a scenario where you’re in a lab. You can take a picture of the experiment for later review using the tablet’s camera and embedding the picture directly in your OneNote page.
Finally, since you can put your notebook onto the cloud, You have the ability to share pages with classmates through secure links and even access your notes from a smart phone or other connected device. These are things you simply cannot do with pen and paper.
