I'm reconsidering my choice of school right now.

No one was supposedly injured. But for me personally when I visited the campus a week ago I felt safer than like UCF & USF being in major cities, with a variety of economic classes.
[Florida Atlantic University: Police are looking for a man suspected of robbing another student on the Boca Raton campus of FAU. The campus is on lockdown, as is nearby Palm Beach State College. - South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com](http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/palm-beach/boca-raton/fl-boca-raton-fau-gunman-20121129,0,4672514.story)

Oh well…I really wanna attend FAU because it’s far enough and close enough to my house, proximity to beaches, pride, the usual. If these shootings keep up, I’m headed for USF.

This got blown way, WAY out of proportion.

The “shootings” (nobody fired a gun, nobody got shot, this is not a school shooting) WON’T keep up. It turns out that a random guy wandered onto campus (which can happen anywhere) and robbed one student of their phone and iPad. Because all public universities have an “open campus”, this could literally have happened at any public university in Florida.

Safety is a huge deal for me. Huge. If this place wasn’t safe, I’d tell you. But in all the years I went to FAU, nothing like this ever happened. It didn’t happen walking to class, it didn’t happen walking to my car late at night and it didn’t happen off-campus in Boca.

I will tell you what happened here: unchained bikes got stolen from time to time. A student overdosed in one of the dorms. Someone pulled the fire alarm at 2 am during finals week and all the dorms had to empty out for 20 minutes. Oh, and maybe you heard that a bipolar girl went crazy in an evolution class.

Bad things happen everywhere, unfortunately. You have a bunch of irresponsible college kids that drink too much and cause trouble. That happens everywhere.

The upside is that Boca Raton, and thus FAU, are very safe. Don’t worry.

Hope you right buddy. I really like FAU.

I wouldn’t base my view of the university on this robbery. This honestly could have happened anywhere.
