I'm currently a junior in high school taking Spanish 1. Most of the colleges I am interested in require atleast two years of foreign languages, and I'm planning on taking Spanish 2 next year. Will colleges consider the one semester of spanish 2 I would have taken by the time I apply as my second year? (My old school did not offer foreign languages which is why I'm starting late). Also, I am proficient in Korean as i have lived half my life in South Korea, and I am planning on taking the subject test for korean in the fall. Will this be of any help?

When you apply you will write down your projected sr courseload, including a year of Spanish 2. Colleges will evaluate you based on the assumption that you will complete all of your sr classes in a satisfactory manner. That’s why when you get an acceptance, it’s actually provisional, and colleges can rescind your acceptance if you don’t keep up your grades.

Yes, the college will consider that you have the necessary 2 years based on your projected schedule. Also I think it will be helpful to take the Korean SAT. Having multiple language skills is a bonus. Also 2 years really is the minimum requirement at many schools but not necessarily sufficient to make you competitive so that will make you look stronger, already having another language, imo.
