What do you think?

Summer jobs are getting hard to find, and I think I am okay/good at explaining concepts.

I am going to retake it and hopefully score higher, but for now this is what I am stuck with.

Probably not

no. kids these days are really competitive. they are aiming for over 2200 so good luck

If you're serious, lol....

To apply for a job at Kaplan, all you need are 90+ percentile scores. Which is a minimum ~1950. As an independent tutor/teacher, there is no way you're going to get work IMO.

Wait, Kaplan only requires 90th percentile scores? You'd expect tutoring companies to at least require 99th....

It's good enough to apply for PR training, but as part of the process, you'll have to take it again and meet a slightly higher minimum. The training is very rigorous - though you do get paid for it.

no chance, you need minimum 2200+, I would even say 2300+ to be desired as a Tutor. Not to mention people can find professional tutors for fairly cheaply now a days.

idk... but thanks for giving me a good idea.

u kidding?

i don't mean to sound offensive or anything, but a 2000 SAT isn't a great score at all. instead of tutoring others, i suggest you get a tutor for yourself, because you obviously don't understand some major concepts that are fundamental to beating the SAT. thus, tutoring others under you will further obfuscate their developing minds

^ Hey douchebag, 93 percentile is pretty damn good. It's rather pathetic how much emphasis you put on the SAT.

Ask a couple of friends and advertise. The whole world isn't CC. Most of my friends would be glad to get a 1800.

Most test prep centers in Boise only hire people who get 750s on the section they are teaching.
and the centers make the applicants take tests to secure their jobs. So maybe for someone who is only scoring around the 1400 range it would be okay for you to tutor. Otherwise i would say a 2100 is needed....at least...especially for parents to feel comfortable about paying for tutoring sessions

I'm sorry guys, my account was on
on my computer, and my older brother posted on this thread.
I'm sorry if he offended anyone, and please accept my apologies.
If you've seen my other posts you would know that I am not an arrogant idiot that the post on this thread portrays me as.

So, I'm sorry.

I only got a 2020 and would not consider tutoring the whole test. However, I did put myself out on craiglist for people who need help with the math section only. I got a 780 and 34 on the math sections and feel that is adequate enough to constitute aid

I'm sorry but I wouldn't hire you unless you got like >2300 as I'm aiming for around the >2300 mark

Sorry, but I say you should go for it.

Depend on the score breakdown. If it was 800 600 600, then you could tutor the section for which you received an 800. If it was more like 680 680 640 then of course you are not qualified to tutor. I would think that a tutor would need at least 2200+ and preferrably 2350ish.

Well, to be honest, that is not good enough for a tutor. I guess any average kid can buy a book and self-study and hit a 2000 without the help of anyone.

And I agree with the above post. You might want to tutor a specific section on SAT. You might have had a 800 on CR or Math, and some lower scores on the rest of the sections. So you would probably be able to tutor that parts you did well on.

Good luck, though! You will find someone!
